3 Things You Need to Know About Your Truck Speakers

Just because you drove off the dealership lot in a brand new, top of the line truck, doesn’t mean that the stereo system included will be up to your standards. Sure, you probably checked it out when you are looking the truck over, but with having to compare all the different aspects of several different trucks, there’s a chance you may not have fully tested out the overall audio capabilities of the speakers. After testing out your system, you’ll discover that your truck speakers may have one of the following characteristics.

1. They’re too small… Space can be a very limited commodity when it comes to truck cabs. Whenever possible, manufacturers try to maximize the cab area by using smaller alternatives. As a result, your speakers could be undersized for your tastes.

2. They’re not the best quality… Unless you have requested an audio system upgrade, the choice in speakers will be determined by what’s most economical for the truck manufacturer. With such slim profit margins and the recent slumping truck sales, companies are employing a wide variety of measures to reduce costs. One side effect of this is that you end up with “adequate” speakers. They work, but the sound quality is noticeably sub par.

3. They’re not subwoofers… Bass is such a critical element to making music sound alive. The problem is that regular speakers just can’t crank out sweet sounding bass. They are just not designed that way. Special speakers, called subwoofers, are created just for handling this lower frequency audio range. But unless you asked for them to be installed, don’t expect to find them. In a further attempt to lower costs and space requirements, subwoofers are commonly not included.

With the amount of time that you will be spending in your truck, it makes sense to have a stereo system that you can be proud of. But if you are like most people, the truck speakers sold to you just won’t cut it. Being too small, substandard in quality, and not including a subwoofer are typical culprits in the inadequacies of the speakers. The positive message to take from this is that once you have identified what is lacking in your truck speakers, you can immediately make plans for improvements.
